Make definite assertions. Avoid tame, colorless, hesitating, non-committal language
I did not learn English as language after my secondary school. Though I did continue to work on my language, there was no formal classes.
English is not my first language. I have grown in an environment where use of English language was sneered. After all it is language of British who ruled us for so many years.
So I never conversed in English before I came to medical college in Delhi.
And I found my language needs a massive improvement.
It was there I discovered that I could write well.

As human brain developed so did the feelings and desire to express them. The need led to development of the language. From howls and moans to the meaningful words today humans have made a great achievement. Same applies to writing too.
A written sentence has to convey the fullness of the meaning without any help of gestures or voice modulation available to the spoken word.
